The HNA

The Amsterdam Tenants Network Union (Vereniging HNA) is run by and for tenants and housing seekers.

In Amsterdam, we face skyrocketing rents, endless waiting lists, and poorly maintained housing. Affordable homes are scarce, student housing is insufficient, and the number of people without a roof over their heads grows every day. Yet we are often excluded from the decisions that shape our living conditions. .

We refuse to accept this. The Amsterdam Tenants Network is building a strong, visible movement that connects tenants, amplifies our collective power, and ensures we have real influence over how and where we live. By organizing locally and connecting our communities across the city, we strengthen our collective voice, build trust and solidarity, and work together toward meaningful change.

What we stand for:

Financial Support for Amsterdam tenant initiatives

HNA receives a subsidy from the Municipality of Amsterdam and reserves a portion of this subsidy in its budget to support tenant organizations in the city.

Tenant organizations and/or tenant collectives that are committed to (organizing) Amsterdam tenants and/or rental housing applicants can submit an application to the HNA board for modest financial support.

Please include the following in your application:

  • Which rental organization are you writing on behalf of?
  • What are you requesting support for?
  • Have you contacted other organizations for funding?
  • What is the amount you wish to request and for what period are you requesting it?

You can email the application to: secretaris@hna.nl

HNA cannot provide financial support for the following:

  • Structural funding for residents' committees and tenant organizations. Tenants can contact their landlord for this. If you have any questions about this, please contact Stichrting !WOON or De Woonbond.
  • Individual cases and legal proceedings concerning a single tenant.
  • Neighborhood budgets or projects related to livability.

The board decides on the grant. If the application is rejected, another application for the same purpose cannot be submitted within the same calendar year.
